Bob’s Comeback Story: A Little Poodle Who Needed Extra Time 🐩
Bob enjoying one of his favorite games — running and playing chase with the other dogs.
Sometimes a puppy’s journey takes an unexpected turn.
Bob, our sweet apricot parti Standard Poodle, reminded us just how resilient puppies can be.
When Bob was about seven and a half weeks old, just a few days after completing his Volhard temperament testing, something frightening happened. During feeding time he began choking. Moments like that feel like they last forever, and we immediately stepped in to help him. Thankfully, we were able to clear the obstruction and Bob was able to breathe again.
But something was different afterward.
It was almost as if a reset button had been pushed.
Bob suddenly had to relearn things that puppies normally take for granted. Walking was awkward for a while, and his little head bobbled as he tried to steady himself. Around here he quickly earned the nickname “Bobblehead.”
Because of this, we immediately removed Bob’s listing. His health and recovery were far more important than finding a home quickly.
For several weeks we simply focused on giving Bob time.
Little by little, he improved.
His steps became steadier. The head bobble faded. His confidence slowly returned.
Today, Bob runs and plays with the other dogs just like any normal puppy. One of his favorite games is chase, where the dogs take turns being the one who gets chased across the yard. Watching them switch roles is pretty hilarious and Bob happily joins right in.
Bob has grown into a thoughtful, observant dog. He likes to watch and understand a situation before jumping in. Once he figures things out, though, his affectionate personality really shines through.
Because we kept him longer than originally planned, Bob is now about six months old and continuing to build confidence with daily routines and training. He has recently started leash introduction and is already making great progress.
Looking back, Bob’s journey reminds us of something important about raising puppies.
Every puppy is an individual.
Sometimes they need a little extra time, a little extra patience, and a lot of encouragement.
Bob received all of that here.
Now he’s ready for the next chapter of his life with a family who will appreciate his sweet personality and continue helping him grow into the amazing companion he’s meant to be.
We’re incredibly proud of how far he’s come.
And somewhere along the way, “Bobblehead” simply became Bob — a happy, playful poodle who’s ready to find his forever home.

Where Bob Is Now
Today Bob is a happy, active six-month-old who loves playing with the other dogs and staying close to his people. His confidence continues to grow each day as he practices new experiences and routines.
We have recently begun introducing leash walking, and Bob is already learning quickly. Like many thoughtful dogs, he likes a moment to observe and understand something new before jumping in, but once he does he becomes very engaged and eager to participate.
Watching him grow stronger and more confident has been incredibly rewarding.
