Why We Use ENS and ESI for Our Puppies

At Poodles on Parade, we believe in giving our puppies the very best start in life. That’s why we incorporate Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) into our puppy-raising program. Here’s a look at why we do it and the benefits it brings.

What is ENS?

Early Neurological Stimulation is a set of gentle handling exercises done with puppies from around the third to the sixteenth day of life. This brief daily stimulation helps puppies develop stronger stress responses and more resilience. Essentially, it’s like a tiny “brain gym” that helps their nervous system mature.

What is ESI?

Early Scent Introduction is another early-life protocol where puppies are introduced to a variety of different scents during the same early period. This helps to awaken their natural curiosity and build confidence. They become more adaptable and comfortable with new experiences, which is fantastic for future training and socialization.

The Benefits for a Confident, Trainable Puppy

By combining ENS and ESI, we’re essentially giving our puppies a head start in life. These methods help them grow up to be more resilient to stress, more eager to learn, and more adaptable to new situations. In other words, they become well-rounded, confident, and easy to train.

Our Approach at Poodles on Parade

We take great care in performing these exercises and always ensure that the puppies are comfortable and safe. Plus, we partner with an outside dog trainer to help assess and track each puppy’s progress, ensuring that we place each puppy in the right forever home.
